I haven't planted watermelon in a few years because I can never get it to grow or when I do the watermelon's only get to the size of baseballs. So I'm trying to see if they will grow in this pot. It's finally growing after a couple of weeks of not seeing it do anything hopefully it will work this year.

Day 131 - Project 365

So after dinner on Sunday for Mothers Day, everyone went into the living room for a nap. It's a good thing that Dad was awake or Desmond would have had his head in Dad's mouth trying to figure out what that snoring sound was coming from.

A pod of Orca Whales was spotted off the coast of Palos Verdes headed towards Catalina Island. It's a little South of where these guys usually end up, but I guess warmer waters prevail for the hunt of food.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY

Mom and Dad came over for dinner for Mothers day. This is what we are going to be eating.

Michael even sauteed onions and mushrooms for Dad to go on top of the steaks I cooked.

The mashed potatoes were the bomb!! Can't help but taste good when you add in home grown herbs to it. Michael even made a homemade beef gravy for it from scratch!!!

We couldn't keep our hands off this plate..we were lucky to have some for dinner, we as in Michael and I kept walking by them and eating them. Lets just say they are easy to make and I'm not sharing my secret.

Day 122 - Project 365

I had to give a lesson in Relief Society today. My topic of choice was prayer. I found this cute little story and made up a bookmark for the sisters to take home.

In about 610 A.D. a very creative Alpine Monk decided to make use of the pieces of dough left over from baking bread. The Monk formed them into thin strips folded into a looped twist to represent the folded arms of children in prayer.
This scrumptious treat was given to the children as they learned their prayers. They began calling the treat "Pretiola", which is Latin for "little reward". Soon it was known the world over as a pretzel.
The secret of making great pretzels is not only in the baking but also in the shaping. We, like pretzels, are made from the best ingredients, by the best hands available, the hands of our Father in Heaven.
Have you ever seen a broken pretzel, or one that's lost its shape? We too, can lose our shape when we don't pray always to keep our spirituality intact. Even in the midst of our greatest trials, we must remember, as did Job, to call on the Lord. The simple shape of the pretzel, arms folded in prayer, reminds us to pray each day. Our "Pretiola" or "little rewards" are the blessings we receive.
Every time you see a pretzel, remember prayer. Check to see if your arms are often folded in prayer and have not lost their shape
