Weekend in Utah

So I never finished with the Bodily Reunion. I had flown up Friday Night and came home early Monday Morning. Tried to cram in as many things as possible with Thalea and the boys. Heading up to the reunion we would be going right by Todd's house so we stopped and visited with him for a few mins.
After the reunion we headed out to the other side of the freeway which is Peterson, Utah which we have family that settled that area, so we took a quick drive around. Somewhere there is a cemetery that has dead people in it that we are related to. (Like there would be alive people in the cemetery..hahaha)
After we left there we passed a cool couple of train bridges that are way too blurry to post, but we did stop long enough to get a picture of the dragon tail (I think that's what its called. Plus there is a river that runs along there and people were floating down. That's on the bucket list to do. It looked way fun and both boys wanted to try it too.
We made it to Park City with plenty of time for a good but sorta quick shopping trip. Wishing that the slide and zip line would still be open but they were closed already. Here are a couple of cute pictures of the boys playing with my iphone, they taught me a few tricks on the games I have on it.
Sunday afternoon, Josh, Tammy and JP stopped by for a visit. I had never met JP. He seemed to like me but I think he liked his Great Aunt Beverly a little better.

Food Trucks and Gordon Ramsey

I got home from Utah and had read on Facebook that 1. The gourmet food trucks were heading to Long Beach and were going to be basically right around the corner from the house and 2. Gordon Ramsey - Hell's Kitchen, Hotel Hell, and Kitchen nightmares and a bunch of other shows was going to be doing a show at Nino's Italian restaurant just around the other corner from the house. So I knew I had to check out both. I went with my friend Donna to the food trucks. Lobster rolls were way good. $12 bucks though but totally worth it. Here are a few pics of the trucks.
I guess I want to keep you on your toes, I have no idea why the pictures are loading upside down, the file I'm uploading from have the pictures right side up...anyway after lunch we decided to drive by Nino's and see what was going on there. I had been trying to get reservations to go to the restaurant and by there for the unveiling but I never got a response and everything I had read said they were booked up. So Donna get this shot of Ramsey shutting down the business, unless the siblings were able to step up and work together. I wish I could be like Ramsey and call people Donkey's and get a way with it!!!
If you look really hard or zoom in on the picture, I promise he's there!!

Bodily Family Reunion

Major picture overload but I had to get them all on here!! This reunion is a first of hopefully many more to come. I hadn't seen some of these people in over 20 years if not longer or in some cases at all. (they hadn't been born yet)
They had even made signs for people to know which way to get to the park.
Random shots of everybody talking and eating or eating and talking.
Mason and Sherman. The boys were very out going introducing themselves around to new relatives.
Great picture of Dad and Ross. Ross wasn't going to come and he lives about a mile away from the park. Long story short Karen, BettyAnn and I went down to his house and he finally showed. I tried to be all smart with him trying to get him to remember who I was and said I was his favorite cousin who use to harass him all the time in 70's, he totally looked serious at me and said "THALEA?" Well needless to say I gave him my best dirty look and held my tongue from calling him names!! But he did come to me at the end and give me a hug and thank me for making him come and he knew it was me...yeah right!!!
BettyAnn and Norman
Aunt Katheryn
Charlotte and Leon. The quilts that are hanging around the area are the fabric that my Great Grandmother Charlotte Bodily had in her stash of goodies. Some how Aunt Melba ended up with them and Charlotte took them and made quilt blocks out of them for every grandchild, great grandchild and great great granchild.
Uncle Jim and Aunt Katheryn
Random picture
All the cousins (Grandchildren) and Aunts and Uncles that made it to the reunion. Uncle Howard's 2 boys and VedaMae were the only 3 missing from the picture of the grandkids besides the ones that have already passed. Norman, Dad, BettyAnn, Sherman, Aunt Melba, Charlotte, KristyAnn, Karen, Jean, Ross Uncle Jim and Aunt Katheryn
Jean and I. She just had a baby girl a few weeks before. Brandie. Jean and I are 8 months to the date in age apart. Pretty amazing seeing how she's Dad's cousin and mine once removed or something like that.
Dad and BettyAnn
They had a great slide or play area for the little kids and Mason and Sam had a blast. One of KristyAnn's son-in-law had a good time with the boys scaring them as they came flying off the slide. I think his name was Mike. Great shot of Mason with his tongue out!!!

Found Cousin

So I don't think I ever mentioned this on the blog before. Back in September last year I was playing on Ancestry.com, looking for some information on Michael's family trying to come up with something for his Grandmother for Christmas. I had found tons of information and one Sunday night, I decided to see what information was on there about my family. I typed in some names that I knew off the top of my head and saw some stuff, which just kept me going looking for more. I typed in my Great Grandmothers name on my Dad's side Flossie Garlick, well I found a bunch of lines, but most of them that would be connected to me had the wrong Flossie. People had a Flossie Garlick that had died in the 1950's and I knew she had died in the 30's, well....I was clicking on names and seeing what other people had and my great Uncle Arden's name popped up with a daughter attached to him. In all of my 41 years (I was 41 at the time) I had never heard that he had had a daughter, and my first thought was wow this is totally messed up someone has gotten information way wrong. Well the more I looked at it, I realized the mother listed was his first wife, so even though it was after 11 PM I picked up the phone and called Mom and Dad wanting to know what the heck...who is this person I had never heard of. Dad confirmed that he did have a cousin Judy and that nobody had known what happened to her after the divorce and after Uncle Arden died nobody had had any contact with her. I hung up the phone and realized that Judy had had a daughter Tobey, and she was the one that had put the information on Ancestry.com. The was a email address for her so I immediately emailed her saying I think your Grandfather and my Grandfather were brothers and so that makes us cousins!!! Tobey emailed me the next morning and we confirmed everything and we are definitely cousins. We've exchanged pictures, emails, phone calls and the reason for this post is that we were finally able to meet. We hooked up in Pasadena for a long chat and a quick bite of food. Mom and Dad were able to come and spend some time with her and tell her some family stories. Here are a couple of pictures of my new found cousin and me and one with Mom and Dad in it as well. She definitely has some Garlick genes in her!!! Love ya Tobey (I know she's reads my blog!!!)
I didn't get a picture of her husband Mark, he was way cool too. He even has Bell relations from the south, so who knows Michael maybe related to him somewhere down the family tree line. Small World!!!
