Day 120 - Project 365

Really People....you couldn't go to your own yard and make out there?

This is the "G" version of what they were up to...I made sure their faces were not towards me.

Some people...I really could go on, but I'll let this one go for today.

Day 117 - Project 365

Huge report due on Sunday at midnight

I have to write a 3 page typewritten double spaced report on these guys. Shouldn't be too hard except I have to come up with something to help save the species and policies that need to be implemented to achieve that. So I guess I shouldn't be blogging and get to work.

Day 116 - Project 365

Just something about Meadow and laying upside down

Day 114 - Project 365

Turns out Long Beach is becoming a bike town. Look what they did in front of the house this week.

Who knew that Long Beach was so green. Just means more traffic trying to back out of the driveway. You can check out this link and it tells you all about Long Beach trying to convince you to ride your bike more.

Day 113 - Project 365

Is it Spring or Winter?

This was the temperature in the house last night at about midnight. It was only going to get colder as the night went on, so I gave in and turned on the heater for the night.

Couldn't let the kitties freeze, and to think they say this is going to be a hot summer. I'm freezing at 66 now, but come this summer I'll be wishing it was this cold!!!

Day 112 - Project 365

Day 111 - Project 365

Storm is a comming

I tried to get a picture of the wind, well it's not that easy to capture on film.

The Palm trees do it better justice to show the wind. It was blowing hard and cold. I wouldn't mind the wind so much if it didn't cause my shoulders and knee to ache so much...man I'm getting old when my injuries can't handle the weather.

Day 110 - Project 365

Strawberries...

Not many strawberries yet..but the one so far that I've eaten, has been super sweet.

Day 107 - Project 365

I not only didn't kill it, I have a blossom starting to bloom!!!!

Here's the first bloom of the season from the columbine plant. I still haven't seen any yet in the garden stores, but yeah for me I managed not to kill this one and it's even blooming now. Hopefully there will be more blooms to come for the season.

Day 105 - Project 365

I bought this house....didn't think that they would actually move in!!!!

I was outside with Summer bright and early this morning and well lets just say thank goodness I have gotten smart in my old age and at least wear my flip flops when I take her outside. The grass was full of snails. And no, no pictures of those nasty little creatures. They saw the sign for their house and I guess invited friends to move in as well!!!!

Day 104 - Project 365

Wednesday night Relief Society activity.

Tonight was working and talking about using your emergency food and knowing how to use it in an emergency. Everyone talks about wheat and having a supply of wheat, but did you know that if your body isn't use to eating wheat your going to have an emergency of your own when you start eating it and then thats not going to be a good thing. So I made wheat chili for the dinner. Pictures and recipe follows

6 cups water 2 Tbls brown sugar
3 cups wheat 1 Tbls chili powder
6 Beef Bouillon cubes 1 tsp Italian Herbs
1 Large can tomato juice 1 tsp cumin
1 clove of garlic, minced 1/4 tsp lemon pepper
1 cup celery, sliced (You can use 1 package of Lawry's
1 onion diced Chili Mix instead of the above
1 pound ground beef seasonings.)
1 large can diced tomatoes

Dissolve bouillon cubes in water. Soak the wheat in the water and bouillon overnight. Next day, cook the wheat until it is soft, about 1 hour. Brown beef, onion and celery in oil. Sprinkle with a little season salt. Add garlic, tomato juice, diced tomatoes, and seasonings (or 1 package of chili mix). Add wheat and the water it is in. Simmer for about 1/2 hour. Can serve with corn chips, cheese, and chopped green onions. (I added cilantro..but thats just me!!)

It turned out pretty well and you would never know that there was wheat in the chili.

Day 101 - Project 365

The neighbors just had this tree trimmed back last year and it's already looking like it needs it again, but still this is a great looking tree and well over 50 years old. Good thing it isn't in my yard. I'd have to climb it and knowing my luck right now I'd probably fall out of it or get stuck up there and not be able to get down.

Saturday, April 10, 2010

Day 100 - Project 365

Ok so I realized that there are some functions on the big digital camera that I haven't tried to use yet so here are some pictures of my roses that are in bloom using the flower button....notice a little water on the red rose that is surrounded by grass.

Day 99 - Project 365

Day 96 - Project 365

Look whose hiding behind the monitor!!

This is Desmond's safe zone. Rascal is too fat to get up here to chase after him. I didn't know he was hiding behind the monitor and I was tapping my pen while I was reading something and all of a sudden out of no where this paw comes flying out around from the back of the monitor and grabs my pen and scares the bajeebees our of me!!!

The Escomex business school in Mexicali, Mexico, sustained damage in Sunday's earthquake, which was felt as far away as Las Vegas. The major damage happened in Mexico but there were temporary power outages in Southern California. (Jorge Rivera, Twitter via The Associated Press)
TIJUANA, Mexico — One of the strongest earthquakes to hit Southern California in decades shook tens of millions of people in two countries and three states on Sunday, swaying buildings from Los Angeles to Phoenix to Tijuana. At least two people were killed in Mexico.

The 7.2-magnitude quake struck at 3:40 p.m., about 38 miles southeast of the border city of Mexicali, Mexico, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. It had a shallow depth of 6 miles. Three aftershocks of magnitudes 5.1, 4.5 and 4.3 followed within the hour and dozens of smaller temblors struck later.

"It sounds like it's felt by at least 20 million people at this point," USGS seismologist Lucy Jones said. "Most of Southern California felt this earthquake."

Long Beach Fire Department Battalion Chief Frank Hayes said firefighters went into earthquake mode and were checking local hospitals, bridges and other structures for possible damage. So far, no damage had been reported. The fire department's regional urban search and rescue team remained on alert Sunday, he added.

Capt. Frank Reynoso of the Los Angeles County Fire Department said no damage was reported in the county.

The earthquake was felt the hardest in Mexicali, a bustling commerce center along Mexico's border with California.

Mom and Dad were driving over to the house for Easter Dinner when it hit. They got out of the car and said did you feel the earthquake? I was like what earthquake? They said look at the telephone pole swaying. I said umm do you not see the wind blowing? But I guess it was the earthquake...never felt it and never have felt any of the 100 or so aftershocks either.

Day 93 - Project 365

And this folks is why I'm not spring breaking in Star Valley this year.

Day 91 - Project 365

Spring Break 2010...this is where I'm at

In my April Fool's mind that is...still have a few more days till the official spring break and no more homework for a week. You might think that I would use the time to get caught up on homework that will be due after spring break...but you would be wrong if you thought that!!!
