Growing Potatoes
This year since we were planting a garden and I had a bag of potatoes that were growing on their own anyway, I decided to plant some potatoes. This is how they looked after a couple of weeks. Who knew potatoes could look so pretty!!!
Here's a couple of other pictures of our early spring garden. Celery, lettuce and Japanese eggplant.
Hopefully we will have a good Summer harvest this year!!!!

Kindle
I had no idea that Michael had taken this picture of me. One of my most favorite things to do is read. He got me a Kindle for my 40th birthday. It came the day we had Grandma's funeral in Long Beach. I knew I wanted one, but wasn't really sure of everything and with the stress of everything going on at the time, I didn't really pay attention to it. So Michael set it up and starting loading books from my favorite authors on it and well 3 years later and 250 + books; I'm still crazy about my Kindle.
Give me a good book over the TV and I'll be reading. I love getting wrapped up in a blanket and just reading myself to sleep. Thank goodness for kindle's free section of books. I probably would have never read most of the books if I had to pay for them, but I've come across some really good free ones.

March rain brings April flowers
I know, I know that's not how the saying goes, but it seems to be true. Michael has been doing really well with keeping up with the watering of the garden, but it just seems like the rain we had last month and this month already has the stuff to make the garden grow.
We planted potatoes and asparagus this year, along with the rest of the normal stuff and well we've had a little black with a white stripe visitor at our house and his or her friend the opossum and it seemed like their favorite thing to do was to eat my asparagus roots and they especially like my Stevia, (guess because its sweet)but check out what we found after the rain on Friday!!!

I knew that we had a good supply of potatoes growing, Michael just stuck one in this container as one of his "many" surprises he plants and then doesn't remember that he planted them...you should see our carrots!!! Anyway...Yeah we have asparagus growing, have no clue if it's just going to be this one and only stock but at least it's growing....now to keep peppy le phew away from it!!!

Pictures from the parking lot of Home Depot
It was such a pretty day and I was at Home Depot picking up some dirt so I have to go to the end of their parking lot which is on a hill and capture these pictures. I love the flag blowing in the wind.

Fixed and old Picture
I was trying to find some old pictures for my new found cousin Tobey on the Garlick side and came across the picture of my Grandpa with all his siblings. As far as I can tell of all the pictures, this is the only one of all 4 of them. I guess you could say this is about the only time they all got along, but then again if you look at the picture they don't look very happy having their picture taken. I guess not being happy about having your picture taken was a trait I inherited for sure!!!

The Big Rock
The Story of the Big Rock that traveled 105 miles from Riverside to Los Angles to become an art piece.
The streets of Long Beach will be used to transport a 340-ton, 21-and-a-half-foot-high rock from a quarry in Riverside to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
"A lot of planning went into this move to ensure safety and prevent any damage," Mayor Bob Foster said. "We're also planning on having some fun with the rock while it's parked in Long Beach on Wednesday, March 7."
A custom-built transporter with 196 wheels will be used to prevent road damage, and travel will only occur at night with a maximum speed of 8 mph. The safest route was selected to include bridges and roadways that were built to higher strength standards and have higher overhead clearances for bridges and wires. No public monies will be used for the transport.
Events include an "I Want to Rock With You" party from noon to 4 pm with a DJ playing songs that feature "rock" in the title, food, live artists, the Knolls Ranger, river rock decorating, photo ops with the rock, and more.
All of this for a art piece called "levitated Mass"...like I really want to walk under this big rock in Southern California when an earthquake could happen at any time!!! Will see how it turns out so stay tune for pictures. I guess I was way more impressed with the trailer that they built to move the thing.

Mars and Venus
These two planets are closer to Earth right now. Its pretty cool to look up in the sky and see these two bright lights. I didn't get the bigger camera out and this picture is actually taken through the sunroof of my truck with my cell phone. Not too bad. I guess this isn't going to happen again till at least 2016 and I can't remember if they said it was going to be this close.
The brighter dot is Mars and the not so bright one is Venus.
